Join Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the National Mall June 27 – July 1 and July 4 – July 8 for the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival. This year features Campus and Community – commemorating the 150th anniversary of the founding of public universities and the USDA; Creativity and Crisis: Unfolding The AIDS Memorial Quilt – marking its 25th anniversary; and Citified, which looks at creativity, identity, and community in far southeast Washington, D.C., neighborhoods. During a recent International PowWow, the premier international marketplace for promoting and contracting travel to the U.S. (April 21-25, 2012, Los Angeles, CA), the new US National Travel and Tourism Strategy was a highlight. The keynote speech was made by John Bryson, US Secretary of Commerce, followed by a video address by President Obama to more than 5,500 US and international travel professionals, including 10 from Ukraine, underscored the importance of international travel to the United States.
