I am sure everyone has something to share with others: a piece of your favourite book or a movie, a famous speech, even some thoughts of yours, a poem (in English).... It can be accompanied with music or some other props, it’s up to your imagination. The best 3 monologues will win small prizes.

Movie Time: 'The Show of Truman'

Movie Time

On March 12, 2016 participants of Movie Time enjoyed watching "The Truman Show", an American science fiction comedy-drama film directed by Peter Weir and written by Andrew Niccol. The film stars Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank. The genesis of 'The Truman Show' was a spec script by Niccol, inspired by an episode of The Twilight Zone called "Special Service".The film chronicles the life of a man who is initially unaware that he is living in a constructed reality television show, broadcast around the clock to billions of people around the globe. Truman becomes suspicious of his perceived reality and embarks on a quest to discover the truth about his life.

Before watching the movie, the participants learnt new words and discussed some issues as a warming-up.

A Discussion about the Science of Love

March 12, 2016 

It is a discussion about the science of love that investigates the mysteries of attraction and intimacy. The author of this idea Arthur Aaron made three dozen questions to create closeness in a lab setting. The 36-question method brings together two couples who don’t know one another. It breaks down emotional barriers between thousands of strangers, resulting in friendships, romance and even some marriages. Each of the four participants should answer the questions out loud. 

Participants of this English Club discussed a lot. The most interesting questions were the following ones: Would you like to be famous? In what ways? Do you rehearse before making a telephone call? What can constitute a perfect day for you? The moderator of the discussion is Dima K.

Дискусія у рамках Офіційного відкриття Року англійської мови Вінницькою ОУНБ ім. К.А. Тімірязєва

В рамках Офіційного відкриття Року англійської мови Вінницькою ОУНБ ім. К.А Тімірязєва була проведена дискусія, метою якої стало ознайомлення з думками громади, чи варто вивчати англійську. Багато різних думок з приводу того, що варто в першу чергу звертати увагу на вивчення рідної мови. 

Модератор дискусії Надія Глухенька, вчитель англійської мови, підготувала питання, які націлені на вивчення ставлення до даного питання і чи варто вивчати іноземні мови у добу глобальних змін. "Чи є потреба у глобальній мові?", "Чому саме англійська мова стала міжнародною?", "Що допомагає мові поширитися навколо світу?" - ключові питання, які стали стартовими у розмові. Багато обговорення було навколо наступного питання "Яке майбутнє англійської мови в Україні?".

Дякуємо Надії Глухенькій за чудову дискусію та проведення опитування щодо значущості іноземних мов у нашому житті.

Щовівторка в Інформаційному Центрі "Вікно в Америку" відбувається Клуб з вивчення англійської мови для викладачів Вінницького Національного Технічного Університету. 

Як показує практика, іноземці можуть не звертати уваги на помилки у вимові чи граматиці, якщо з ними говорити їх рідною мовою, але при цьому бувають чутливими до відхилень від норм мовленнєвого етикету. Учасники даного клубного засідання, що відбулось 1 березня, знайомились з формулами ввічливості, а також поглибили свій словниковий запас лексикою з теми "Участь у конференції", "Подорож потягом".

Щосуботи о 12.15 в Інформаційному Центрі "Вікно в Америку" відбуваєтьс Ігровий клуб, на якому учасники вивчають англійську за допомогою настільних ігор. Чи можливо це? Так, якщо ці ігри Alias, Activate Games, Apple to Aplle, Monopoly, тощо. Приєднуйтесь!
