Bridging Digital Divides
We are used to think of organizations, states and governments as organized in an hierarchical manner. Historically, when a company in one country trades with a company in another country, the contact between these companies are taken on a managerial or even intergovernmental level. Combined with advancements in information technology, this leads to a globalization lead by big corporations, and benefits mainly them. However, we can also use these advancements in information technology to take more direct contact with each other, and have a globalization on the terms of people and individuals based on networked and decentralized organization, rather than traditional hierarchical structures. In this English speaking club, we explore how this shift in paradigm can also apply to volunteer work across the borders.
