Science Slam

https://www.facebook.com/scienceslamua
Science Slam.

A Movie Night on "Meet Joe Black"

On November 23, 2014 the participants of Movie Night watched American fantasy romance film ‘Meet Joe Black’ produced by Universal Studios, directed by Martin Brest and starring Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and Claire Forlani. In spite of the fact that the movie received mainly mixed reviews by critics, it became a basis for a discussion about life experience, love and kindness, changes that can happen to even an evil person. The participants discussed a lot after watching a movie sharing their ideas and attitude to main characters and their chosen life values. Natalia’s delicious sweets and her active position as a leader of this activity while discussing encouraged attendees to be persuasive in their arguments.

November 18, 1883U.S. railroad companies create the first time zones. Efficient rail transportation demanded a more uniform time-keeping system. Rather than turning to the federal governments of the United States and Canada to create a North American system of time zones, the powerful railroad companies took it upon themselves to create a new time code system. The companies agreed to divide the continent into four time zones; the dividing lines adopted were very close to the ones we still use today. A Discussion on American Indians with Diana G.

On November 12, 2014 the leader of Bright English Club Diana G. told about American Indians that once lived in North America at the beginning of her presentation. One of the parts of the session was a discussion about the busiest city in all the world, a hub of culture and commerce, beautiful and ethnically diverse and all-American, New York. Here you will find the skyscraper from which King Kong tumbled, the United Nations Headquarters, and the State of Liberty, which promises to offer shelter to the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses from every corner of the globe. But New York still has a few stories that remain unknown to the wider world.New York is the 27th-most extensive, the third-most populous, and the seventh-most densely populated of the 50 United States.
At the end of the meeting the participants practiced their communicative skills in English.
