Topic: Public Speech Skills
Fun Fact of the Day: The President "Washington had a speech impediment. He would often get his "Is' and "Es" mixed up. This caused him to spell many words incorrectly" (www.washingtonpublishers.com).
Topic:
1. How can you develop good public speech skills? How can they help us to overcome our fears of talking in front of an audience? Have you ever experienced anxiety talking in front of groups of people, either strangers or acquintances?
2. How can speech abilities help correctly present thoughts and ideas to others in a business setting? Why are public speech skills necessary in the business realm? Do you use them in your work on a regular basis?
3. When should people begin to develop these skills? Is it important to learn how to speak in front of an audience as puplis or students? Why might it be a good idea to develop these abilities from a young age?
4. How can developing these skills help people overcome qualities such as shyness or lack of confidence? can taking special speech courses or practicing public speaking increase self-esteem and improve interactions with others?
5. Do such skills help people to achieve more success and happiness in their personal lives? While speech skills may be more apparent in studies or the work realm, do they also affect our private lives? If so, how?
6. Can you learn to be comfortable giving speeches, both short and long, on an impromptu basis? can you always be prepared to speak in front of an audience? How does public speaking affect our daily lives?
