Skype Discussion with the Assistant Director of Government Relations and Communications for the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council

Vinnytsia Information Center “Window on America” was hosting Skype discussion on March 29th, 2012 on the topic “Agriculture in Ukraine. Foreign Investments. Biotechnology. GMO” and other branches relating to it.
The speaker of the meeting was Andriy Tsintsiruk, the Assistant Director of Government Relations and Communications for the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) based in Washington, DC. In this role, Tsintsiruk is responsible for developing, promoting, and executing USUBC programs and policy relating to U.S. trade and investment in Ukraine. Prior to joining USUBC, Andriy Tsintsiruk worked at the Heritage Foundation and United Nations in New York concentrating on international trade and post-Soviet economic transitions.

The key words of this discussion are the following ones: Agriculture in Ukraine, Foreign Investments into it, potential possibilities of Agriculture in Ukraine, Genetically Modified Food, GMO, Genetic Engineering, Land Privatization, a Policy Strategy for Crop Engineering, Biofuel, Agricultural Biotechnology, Demographic Situation and GMO, results of its usage in next generations (obesity and other diseases), influence on ants, land privatization and ownership in Ukraine, organic food, prices on it, import of GMO products, GMO and consumers, international law regulations including Ukrainian ones, etc.
It was also discussed a question of the last week’s World Food Summit in Rome, at which the United States championed the use of genetically modified (GM) foods to help feed the world’s poor. In the focus of this discussion it was also a pragmatic, long-term strategy by which GM foods could help improve the quality of life in developing countries. For somebody, this important innovation is at risk ‘cause of a bunch of diseases.
31 users of WOA Center have participated in the discussion expressing their own opinion on the development of agriculture in general and usage of organic and genetically modified food.
